Venice Printmaking Studio organizes a biennial exhibition of large format prints created by artists-in-residence. The next Biennale will take place in 2013.
The Venetian institutions have suggested to postpone the exhibition to autumn 2014.
The first such international exhibition, "The Large Format in Contemporary Printmaking" was inaugurated in May 2002 in the Venetian Museum Scuola Grande dei Carmini.
Successively, exhibitions have also been on view at the MART, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto-Trento, Italy and in the Palazzo delle Antiche Prigioni, of the Doges' Palace, in Venice.
Catalogues of the Biennale have been published and made available for free to the public.
More than a hundred artists, master and emerging from universities and colleges throughout Europe, the U.S.A. and Australia have participated in this project dedicated to the specific theme of large format printmaking on an international scale.
The exhibition also provides an opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit their work alongside master artists, and to learn from and be inspired by artists of international reputation.
In this respect the exhibition is a perfect meeting ground, providing the time and space for artists and art enthusiasts to compare, contrast and exchange thoughts on the prints and the art of printmaking.
