under the instruction of Aldo Carpi and Marino Marini. He has exhibited in
Italy and abroad and his works are part of public and private collections. From
1990 to 2000 he directed the Italian-Swedish Cultural Foundation and the
Contemporary Art Gallery in Stockholm, promoting art presentations and
international exhibitions.
Collaborations with the City of
Venice have included the loan of the Ducal Palace’s 18th century collection of
Vedutisti paintings for the exhibition in Stockholm, "Vedutisti from the
Veneto of the 1700s". Gianfranco organized exhibitions, internships and
art editions for students of the Academy of Fine Arts Brera and the Academy of
Fine Arts Stockholm. Following his time with the Italian-Swedish Cultural
Foundation, Gianfranco founded the Venice Printmaking Studio through which he
continues to develop relationshops with artists and art initiatives to further
the exposure of the print media.
During its ten years of activity, the VPS has been the
studio of numerous international artists, establishing excellent relationships
on both artistic and personal levels. Situated on the island of Murano, on the
far end of Fondamenta Radi, the studio offers 400m² of workspace overlooking
the lagoon.
